24 Nov Share. Care. Smile. 4.0
Project “Share. Care. Smile” , organized for the 4th consecutive time, is a project which focuses on making lives better by giving. This project was initiated by the Rotaract Club of Hyderabad Himayathnagar, in the Rotary International year 2016/17, and executed by the Rotaract Club of University of Colombo, Faculty of Management and Finance, as a joint project.
"Share. Care. Smile." was launched with the motto "Share from yours, Care for others and Smile together". It is focused to create awareness among the students of private and international schools, on the value of sharing what they have with underprivileged children.
Organized under the International Service avenue, this project was chaired by Rtr. Sifara Mumthas and Rtr. Nadeera Ratnayake. This year, the school selected was Hewavitharana Model Primary School in Kotte which comprises of 300 students from nursery to grade 05. The project committee and club members were able to collect monetary and non-monetary donations along with the support of the Interact Clubs of St. Paul’s Girls School Milagiriya, Ilma International School, St. Peter’s College and Muslim Ladies College.
The event was held on the 13th of November 2019, at the school main hall with the presence of the Principal, School Staff, Students and Club Members of RACUOCFMF. The event commenced with the Principal of Heawavitharana Model Primary School, Mrs. Ranjanee welcoming the gathering. During her address, she expressed her pleasure and gratitude for selecting their School for the project. It was followed by a singing item performed by Rtr. Malinka Singarachchi and Rtr. Saseni Wijegunawardane, which entertained the students.

Then came the most exciting part of the project, the distribution of donations to the students of the school. Stationery gift packs were distributed to all classes from nursery to grade 05, by the project committee members. The priceless smiles on the faces of these children and the enthusiasm they showed when receiving these gifts touched our hearts, making us wanting to do more and more for such underprivileged children. The chocolates we gave them at the end of the event was certainly their cherry on top.
"Share. Care. Smile." is a project of value that we did looking at the potential where “under-privileged kids” becomes just history.
